It is the small details that have made one of the most comfortable dining chairs even more comfortable. When Jørgen Bækmark added an armrest to the J81, big brother to the J80, the result was both a more comfortable chair, but also with a natural continuation of the curved shape in the back of the chair. Furthermore, the chair is slightly wider than the J80, which of course also provides a little more comfort. The design dates back to the golden age of FDB Møbler, but the proportions have been slightly adjusted, as the Danes are on average five to six centimeters higher today than they were in the 1960s. But otherwise, the design appears as it used to be - and at the same time quite contemporary and topical.

Jørgen Bækmark (b. 1919) became head of FDB Møbler's design studio in 1958 and is the only living designer of FDB Møbler from this era. Jørgen Bækmark graduated from the School of Arts and Crafts and the Academy of Fine Arts, but was originally a carpenter. The link between design and craftsmanship is pervasive in his work. In his time in FDB Mobler was known to be deeply concerned with the smallest details in the production.
